N80 and L80 are popular steel grades for oil casing. We compare their mechanical performance, hardness and applicable well conditions.
N80 and L80 are two high‑demand steel grades in OCTG industry, while they have obvious differences.
N80‑1 is normalized steel with high tensile strength, suitable for general‑depth conventional oil wells. It features good cost performance for mass projects.
L80‑1 is quenched & tempered steel with strictly‑controlled hardness. It performs well in anti‑sulfide‑stress‑cracking environment, widely used in sour‑service wells.
When selecting casing, clients shall consider well depth, pressure and whether there is hydrogen sulfide in formation.
Our supply includes both N80 and L80 casing with complete API inspection reports.
